REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Manpower is considering accelerating the payment of Eid bonuses for ride-hailing drivers to 14 days before Eid al-Fitr. Lisadarti, Coordinator of Labour Relations at the Ministry of Manpower, said that this scheme is being considered following the implementation of the work-from-anywhere policy.

“In previous years, it was seven days before Eid, but there is a scheme to make it 14 days before Eid. We hope it will be 14 days, but it will be discussed with the application companies tomorrow along with the Minister of Manpower,” said Lisa at the Iftar & Media Gathering of inDrive Indonesia 2026 at the Aroem Restaurant, Jakarta, Wednesday (25/2/2026).

Lisa hopes that the Eid bonus for ride-hailing drivers will be increased for Eid 2026. She recalled the demonstration by ride-hailing drivers who complained about receiving only Rp 50,000 as an Eid bonus last year.

“(The drivers said) that they receive more tips from customers than that bonus,” said Lisa.

Lisa explained that the complaints about last year’s bonus were due to the late decision regarding the bonus policy. Previously, the Ministry of Manpower had only focused on Eid allowances. “In 2025, the reason they received Rp 50,000 was because the Ministry of Manpower issued the circular suddenly. Now it is not sudden. Hopefully, it will not be Rp 50,000 again, hopefully tomorrow it will be Rp 1 million. The hope is Rp 1 million,” said Lisa.

Lisa said that the Ministry of Manpower has been committed to ensuring that drivers and online couriers receive fair and just treatment, including during Eid. She said that collaboration between the government and industry players is very important in creating good labour governance in the digital economy.

“The Ministry of Manpower is currently drafting policies that can encourage drivers and online couriers to receive religious holiday bonuses. This policy is still under discussion and completion at the leadership level,” Lisa continued.

Lisa said that the Eid bonus is intended for drivers and online couriers who are officially registered and have been partners for the past year. This is a form of appreciation for the dedication and loyalty of ride-hailing drivers.

“Application companies are expected to be transparent in calculating and communicating the amount of the Eid bonus to drivers and online couriers,” said Lisa.
