Ministry Confirms Removal of KBIHU's Unauthorised Tent Markings at Arafah

Amirul Hajj and Indonesia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, confirmed that papers stuck by the Hajj Guidance Group (KBIHU) at Arafah tents have been removed. Officers were deployed to clear the unilateral tent allocation markings. ‘The KBIHU stickers have been removed and replaced with official Ministry of Hajj and Umrah markings,’ said Gus Irfan yesterday. According to Gus Irfan, a massive clearance operation was conducted after inspectors found ‘illegal’ papers placed by KBIHU on Thursday (21 May 2026). ‘There was a cleaning operation last night,’ he said. Officials replaced the stickers with official Ministry of Hajj papers detailing tent capacity and cluster data. ‘At minimum, cluster data must be included; we will also include the names of the pilgrims occupying the tents,’ he said. Misbehaving KBIHUs Recorded. Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s Public Relations Chief Hasan Afandi stated that the ministry has recorded the names of KBIHUs suspected of placing the stickers to prevent further unilateral tent allocation. ‘We have listed the names of KBIHUs whose markings were removed during the ministers’ visit to Arafah,’ he said. Under ministerial instructions, stubborn KBIHUs will face strict action and have their licences revoked. Hasan stressed that tent allocation is the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s authority. ‘Therefore, no group should unilaterally allocate tents in the name of a specific region or KBIHU,’ he added. Previously, Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf and Deputy Minister Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak threatened to revoke licences of rogue KBIHUs. The Amirul Hajj team also tore down papers suspected of being placed by KBIHUs at Arafah tents on Thursday (21 May 2026). ‘This is illegal – there are established standards. We will revoke the licences of disobedient KBIHUs. Those who fail to comply with regulations will have their licences revoked,’ said Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak during his Arafah inspection with the Amirul Hajj team on Thursday (21 May 2026). The unilateral tent allocation by KBIHUs is deemed harmful to other pilgrims. ‘Last year, some pilgrims were denied tents due to such actions,’ he said.
