Ministry accelerates hygiene certification for 26,000 MBG kitchens
“The increase is quite significant. At the end of March, applications were still below 10 thousand, but now there are more than 26,000 SPPG kitchens,” said Director of Environmental Health at the ministry, Then Suyanti, here on Saturday.
She revealed that as of April 24, 2026, a total of 14,646 SLHS certificates have been issued, accounting for 81 percent of total applications received.
Meanwhile, out of the total data, 17,807 kitchens have submitted applications, while around 8,600 others have yet to apply for the SLHS.
The Health Ministry has urged SPPG partners to quickly apply for the certification to ensure food safety standards are met.
She added that this acceleration also requires full support from the Ministry of Home Affairs through direct instructions to regional heads to ensure that local health offices facilitate the certification and inspection process.
“The Ministry of Health is also monitoring the inspections and the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOP). We have found in several regions that SLHS cannot yet be issued because food handlers have never undergone training,” she explained.
As a solution, she said that the ministry provides free online training through the Pelataran Sehat Learning Management System (LMS). The online training covers food safety policy, food contamination, personal hygiene, and production processes.
“This training is free and accessible 24 hours. We ask SPPG heads to help food handlers access it, because their competency certificates are a mandatory requirement for SLHS issuance,” she said.
