Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has stated that the implementation of the 7 Habits of Great Indonesian Children (7 KAIH) movement also strengthens character education for students in Non-Formal Education Units (SPNF), including home-schooling affiliated with Community Learning Activity Centres (PKBM).

Director of Non-Formal and Informal Education at Kemendikdasmen, I Gusti Made Ardana, said that in home-schooling, the family environment becomes the first and primary source of habits that students will observe and imitate.

“The family environment is not merely an institution, but a place where good habituation is first brought to life and exemplified. The role of parents is vital to ensure that the values of the 7 Habits of Great Indonesian Children are truly applied and become good habits in daily life,” said I Gusti Made Ardana during a webinar titled “Good Practice Series Solutions for Implementing 7 KAIH in Non-Formal Education Units (SPNF)” in Jakarta on Thursday.

As part of the education system, he said SPNF has a strategic role in supporting the independence and social skills of learners through more adaptive, flexible, and contextual learning methods.

“Efforts from educational units must certainly go hand in hand with the active involvement of parents, where the family holds the most fundamental moral responsibility in guiding children. We strongly hope that all SPNF, in synergy with parents, can implement the 7 KAIH,” he stated.

On the same occasion, home-schooling practitioner from Rumah Belajar 4 Jagoan, Mila Fitrina, said that implementing the 7 KAIH requires not only conscious and continuous application but also consistent journaling so that its implementation can be measured.

“From habituation, it will become a habit; from habit, it becomes character; and from character, a civilisation will be created. Thus, character building is created through the rhythm of daily activities until it eventually becomes the family rhythm,” she said.

For context, the 7 KAIH Movement initiated by Kemendikbudristek includes waking up early, praying, exercising, eating healthy and nutritious food, enjoying learning, socialising, and sleeping early.
