Ministries Request Rp984 T in Additional Funds, Purbaya: I Won't Grant All of Them
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has disclosed that requests for additional budget allocations in 2027 from a number of ministries and agencies (K/L) have reached Rp984 trillion. He stressed that as State Treasurer, he will not grant all of the additional budget requests. He will review and scrutinise the requests further. Purbaya assured that additional budgets will only be given to deserving ministries and agencies with priority programmes. “We will probably look at it, not all of it will be granted. Certainly not all of it will be fulfilled,” Purbaya said when met at the Parliament Complex in Central Jakarta on Thursday. According to him, this step must be taken because he is determined to maintain the 2027 State Budget (APBN) deficit within the limit of 1.80-2.40% of gross domestic product (GDP), in line with the government’s plan. “What is clear is that we have a deficit target. As long as the deficit is met, that is fine, but it feels like that (the Rp984 trillion request) is above the existing deficit,” he asserted. Head of the Budget Committee (Banggar) Said Abdullah stated that the total proposed additional spending budget for ministries and agencies for the 2027 fiscal year reached Rp984 trillion, from a designed ceiling of Rp1,389.94 trillion. With this note, the total budget for ministries and agencies, if agreed by the government, would reach Rp2,373.94 trillion next year, far higher than the 2026 target of Rp1,510.5 trillion. “We submit the proposals from various discussions that have been agreed upon between the commissions and their respective partners,” Said said.
