Ministers to hold talks in S'pore
SINGAPORE (AFP): Southeast Asian law ministers are to meet here this weekend to lay the framework for greater legal cooperation, the Singapore law ministry said on Tuesday.
The ministers will discuss specific proposals, including the establishment of procedures to exchange legal information as well as to exchange visits and attachments for law officials and the government law directory.
The two-day fourth ASEAN Law Ministers Meeting beginning on Friday will be chaired by Singapore Foreign Minister Shanmugan Jayakumar, who is also law minister.
According to the statement, the meeting with the theme "Towards mutual understanding of ASEAN legal systems" will be preceded by the sixth ASEAN senior law officials meeting from Wednesday.
