Ministers' remarks on President Prabowo's third working visit to France in 2026

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Paris Orly Airport on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, at around 10:00 local time. His working visit coincides with Eid al-Adha 1447 AH and aims to strengthen the Indonesia-France strategic partnership, which has grown through frequent interactions between the two presidents. This marks his fourth visit to France, following trips on 14 July 2025, 23 January 2026, 14 April 2026, and 25 May 2026. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated the visit was in response to an invitation from French authorities. ‘This arrival marks the start of President Prabowo’s state visit to France, which was scheduled last year but has undergone several reschedulings,’ he said in a statement on Tuesday. Foreign Minister Sugiono confirmed the visit fulfilled a delayed invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron. ‘This is an invitation from President Macron that was indeed delayed,’ Sugiono said in a video statement received on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. He explained the visit was initially planned for April 2026 but postponed due to scheduling conflicts between the leaders. Macron renewed the invitation during Prabowo’s previous visit to Paris.
