Ministers and Officials Pay Final Respects to Rachmat Gobel
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Manpower Yassierli, and Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono visited the family home of the late House of Representatives (DPR) member Rachmat Gobel on Jalan Supomo Number 55A, South Jakarta, on Friday to offer their deepest condolences.
A number of prominent figures and officials arrived at the funeral home in South Jakarta to pay their final respects and offer prayers for the bereaved family. Among those in attendance were Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Bakrie, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti, and NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh. Deputy Speaker of the DPR Saan Mustopa, DPR member Ahmad Sahroni, and former Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa were also present to pay their last respects.
Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan remembered Rachmat Gobel as an old friend and a national fighter who left behind many valuable works and examples. Zulkifli stated that Indonesia has lost a figure known as a good person with various contributions and a dedication that will be remembered by the public and his colleagues. “Oh, I have known him for a long time, an old friend. I am deeply saddened, Indonesia mourns, (the deceased) was a fighter. We all bear witness that he was a good person,” Zulhas said when met at the funeral home.
Meanwhile, Minister of Manpower Yassierli conveyed that the entire community is grieving and prayed that the deceased be forgiven for all his sins and granted husnul khatimah. “We all mourn the loss of him, and we pray that Allah SWT forgives him and grants him husnul khatimah,” said Minister Yassierli.
As of 11.20 WIB, family, relatives, and colleagues continued to arrive at the funeral home, while floral tributes from various circles filled the surrounding area as an expression of condolence. Rachmat Gobel, a member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) who served as Minister of Trade from 2014 to 2015, passed away on Friday morning, leaving behind deep sorrow for his family, colleagues, and the public for his long service to the nation and state.
The news of Rachmat Gobel’s passing was confirmed by Deputy Chairman of Commission XI of the DPR RI, Fauzi Amro, when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday, as he also expressed his condolences on the departure of the deceased. Fauzi Amro conveyed that Rachmat Gobel passed away on Friday, 10 July 2026, at 03.20 WIB in Jakarta, while offering prayers that the deceased be granted the best place in the sight of Allah. “My deepest condolences, innalillahi wainnailaihi raji’un. H Rachmat Gobel has returned to the mercy of Allah on Friday, 10 July 2026, at 03.20 WIB, in Jakarta,” said Fauzi.
The body of the deceased was laid to rest at the family home located on Jalan Supomo Number 55A, South Jakarta, as a place for family and relatives to pay their final respects. The deceased is survived by his beloved wife, Retno Damayanti, who accompanied him throughout his life and service, and was an important part of his extended family. Rachmat Gobel also leaves behind two children, Nurfitria Sekarwillis Kusumawardhani and Mohammad Arif Gobel, along with grandchildren and a large family who are now mourning his passing.
