Minister Yandri: We Must Ensure the Success of the KDKMP Village Cooperatives
Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT) Yandri Susanto has stated that his ministry is paying full attention to the implementation of the Merah Putih Village and Sub-district Cooperatives (KDKMP), as the programme utilises village funds.
“We from the Ministry of Villages certainly have a very significant interest in this Village Cooperative because it uses village funds. We need to ensure this cooperative succeeds,” Yandri said, as quoted from YouTube, SulselProv, on Wednesday.
Yandri Susanto explained that the programme is also part of President Prabowo Subianto’s efforts to execute the Astacita mission, specifically building villages to achieve economic equality. According to him, the presence of KDKMP can reduce poverty rates.
“What for? To ensure the President’s sixth Astacita mission—building from the village and from the grassroots, for economic equality and poverty eradication—can truly be realised,” he stated.
Yandri is optimistic that the presence of KDKMP can become a driving force for the village economy. He noted that if the village economy moves, it could have a positive impact nationally.
Furthermore, the presence of KDKMP is part of an effort to expand village access to various government programmes. Eventually, KDKMP will be present in all villages.
“We want to realise what Bung Hatta said: ‘Indonesia will not shine brightly with just one torch in Monas. But Indonesia will shine brightly when small candles are lit in villages across Indonesia.’ Now, those candles are, God willing, the Village Cooperatives and the Merah Putih Sub-district Cooperatives,” he concluded.
