Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT) Yandri Susanto has reported 73 social media accounts to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) over the spread of hoaxes.

Yandri’s legal adviser, Juanda, said the report relates to a deepfake AI video that uses Yandri’s name and voice.

“We came here to follow up on the report or complaint filed by Mr Yandri Susanto personally,” he told journalists at Bareskrim on Thursday (13/8).

Juanda explained that the hoax video was made to appear as though Yandri was asking for village shops to be closed for the sake of the Kopdes Merah Putih village cooperative programme.

“It is stated there as if Mr Yandri said that shops and stores in villages should be closed,” he said.

“In fact, Mr Yandri never said that. The claim about closing shops as mentioned in the content is linked to the existence of the Kopdes Merah Putih,” he added.

Juanda explained that the complaint was filed by Yandri on Wednesday, 29 July 2026. He therefore asked the Bareskrim Cybercrime Directorate to investigate the case thoroughly.

“The date was 29 July. 29 July 2026. We have already submitted a report and complaint here,” he said.

On the same occasion, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Villages Taufik Madjid said the circulating content was misleading because it allegedly manipulated Yandri’s voice using AI technology, making it appear highly convincing.

“So it seems as though the voice in the content is Mr Yandri’s voice. In fact, Mr Yandri never made such a statement at all,” he explained.

He said the original vision of the Kopdes Merah Putih programme is actually the opposite of what the hoax content claims.

Taufik explained that 73 social media accounts were detected spreading the content across various platforms. All of them have been handed over to Bareskrim investigators.

“So 73 accounts. For now, 73 accounts have been traced,” he added.

When contacted separately, Director of Cybercrime at Bareskrim, Brigadier General Adex Yudiswan, confirmed the report. However, he did not provide details on the current progress of the investigation.

“It is in process,” he said via text message.
