Minister Yandri Calls for Drug-Free Villages to Achieve Golden Indonesia 2045

Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto attended the commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (HANI) 2026, organized by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) at the BNN Rehabilitation Centre in Bogor, West Java. His presence underscored the government’s commitment to the ‘Drug-Free Village’ (Desa Bersinar) program, which aims to ensure that village and sub-district populations are free from drug abuse.

Yandri stated that the program is crucial because villages form the foundation of the nation. ‘The future of this country depends on all of us, not just the President or the ministers, but on everyone. That is why the President’s message is about cooperation, because we are not a superman but a super team,’ Yandri said in his statement on Thursday.

He explained that the program has been launched in various provinces and is implemented by village officials and residents. The government has also provided reporting and monitoring platforms to ensure that communities of all ages and backgrounds can live without exposure to drug distribution and abuse.

During the event, Yandri, alongside BNN Chief Komjen Suyudi Ario Seto and Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, witnessed the destruction of 3.37 tonnes of narcotics. The destroyed evidence included 8,872.2 grams of methamphetamine, with 90.24 grams set aside for laboratory testing. Additionally, 3,087,685.2 grams of cannabis from Thailand were destroyed, with 9,396 grams retained for examination. Hashish and precursor liquids were also incinerated.

Yandri reiterated that the fight against drugs involves not only ministries and agencies but also the general public. He called on all citizens to participate in realizing the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision, which requires healthy, intelligent, superior, productive, and competitive human resources.
