Minister: Workers and Companies Must Be Strategic Partners to Face Challenges
Minister of Manpower Yassierli has emphasised that workers and companies must become strategic partners to face the evolving challenges of the world of work. He assessed that this partnership is crucial for maintaining company competitiveness while simultaneously improving worker welfare.
According to Yassierli, strong industrial relations must go beyond just maintaining harmony; they must be capable of building collaboration that drives company progress and enhances worker welfare. “Industrial relations must level up. They must not only be harmonious but also transformative, so that workers and companies become strategic partners that grow together,” he said.
The Ministry of Manpower has established five maturity levels for industrial relations: Level 1 (Fragmented), Level 2 (Compliant), Level 3 (Harmonious), Level 4 (Proactive), and Level 5 (Transformative). Yassierli explained that while most companies have strived to build harmonious industrial relations, future challenges demand a shift towards proactive and transformative relationships. He noted that the transformative level positions workers and companies as strategic partners in achieving common goals.
“At this level, industrial relations are built not only to maintain harmony but also to drive company progress, increase productivity, and create added value for society,” the Minister stated. He also outlined three focus areas for companies, particularly in public services like Jasa Raharja, to support more proactive and transformative industrial relations: improving the quality of public services, accelerating digital transformation in the workplace, and strengthening the company’s tangible contribution to the nation and state.
Yassierli expressed hope that the collective labour agreement recently agreed upon by Jasa Raharja and its workers would be implemented consistently and serve as a foundation for increasing company productivity and worker welfare. “More than that, this collective labour agreement is expected to encourage the creation of industrial relations that are not only harmonious but also collaborative, adaptive, and sustainable,” he said.
Jasa Raharja President Director Muhammad Awaludin welcomed the Minister’s directives and affirmed the company’s commitment to continuously building a healthy, inclusive, and collaborative work environment. “This collective labour agreement is a momentum to further strengthen the synergy between the company and workers, build a positive work culture, and reinforce our shared commitment to providing the best service to the people of Indonesia,” Awaludin said.
