Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Population and Family Development/Head of BKKBN Wihaji stated that the family is the foundation of national welfare to address the challenges of the demographic bonus. “The family is the smallest unit in the state, so strengthening the family unit is crucial in responding to the demographic bonus challenges. Through careful family planning, quality parenting, and strengthening intergenerational family resilience, every individual is expected to grow optimally from an early age, be productive in working years, and prosperous in old age,” said Wihaji during the dialogue “Towards Intergenerational Welfare” at the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas Office, Jakarta, on Monday. He emphasised that changes in population structure must be addressed through development policies oriented towards family quality as the smallest unit in the state, because the success of utilising the demographic bonus is not only determined by the number of working-age population but also by the family’s readiness in building healthy, educated, and economically independent human resources. In addition, according to him, cross-sectoral collaboration in formulating population dynamics-based development policies needs to be prioritised. As a follow-up, the Ministry of Population and Family Development/BKKBN will continue to strengthen cross-sectoral synergies through life cycle-based family development to ensure that every stage of Indonesian citizens’ lives is protected, productive, and sustainably prosperous.
