Minister Urges Danantara and TNI Support to Accelerate Sekolah Rakyat Construction by June 2026 Deadline

Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo has praised Danantara and the TNI Commander for their support in accelerating the construction of Sekolah Rakyat (SR) in West Kalimantan Province to meet the completion target of June 20, 2026. The minister made the remarks during a site visit to the SR construction progress in Singkawang on Thursday, May 28, 2026. Three SR projects under construction in West Kalimantan include those in Pontianak City, Singkawang City, and the West Kalimantan Provincial Government SR. Hanggodo stated that accelerating SR construction requires cross-sector collaboration, particularly in funding and labour support given the tight timeline. “I appreciate Danantara’s support, particularly from Mr Dony Oskaria, for facilitating funding to ensure ongoing fieldwork. I also thank the TNI Commander for providing manpower to accelerate SR construction,” he said. “If funding and manpower are available, progress can be faster. Therefore, we continue coordinating to meet all acceleration requirements,” he added. Amid the time-sensitive acceleration efforts, Hanggodo affirmed the Ministry of Public Works remains optimistic all SR projects in West Kalimantan will be completed on schedule for use in the 2026/2027 academic year. “We must remain optimistic. If I am not optimistic, how can others be? Optimism is the first step to figuring out what needs to be done to complete on time,” he said. Hanggodo added that the site visit was to ensure all acceleration needs are met promptly and to verify that work progress aligns with reported data. “I want to confirm what is missing and what remains. The reports I receive are not just on paper; I check on-site to ensure everything is delivered on time,” he said. According to progress data as of May 27, 2026, cumulative construction progress for SR in West Kalimantan reached 45.95%. Progress for Pontianak City SR stands at 48.35%, Singkawang City SR at 45%, and the West Kalimantan Provincial Government SR in Singkawang at 44.03%. Specifically, the West Kalimantan Provincial Government SR in Singkawang is built on a 6.31-hectare site with a total building area of 27,365 square metres. The project is being executed by the KSO WIKA-CIPTA-WEGE contractor with a contract value of Rp 223.89 billion.
