Earlier, the proposal to arrange a meeting with President Prabowo was conveyed by Regent of North Nias, Amizaro Waruwu, as the coordinator of the underdeveloped regional heads during the opening of the Coordination Meeting for Accelerating Development in Underdeveloped Regions at the Ministry of Villages and Underdeveloped Regions office, Jakarta, Wednesday.

“Earlier, there was a very rational and reasonable proposal from Mr. Amizaro, Regent of North Nias, as the coordinator of the underdeveloped regional heads, to meet directly with Mr. President Prabowo. I think this is something extraordinary, their desire, and we will communicate so that they can meet directly with Mr. President,” said Minister Yandri to reporters after attending the opening of the meeting.

Furthermore, he said that in the meeting, leaders from underdeveloped regions can directly express to the President about the conditions of their respective regions.

“Educational facilities are still very limited. To get to (school), on average they have to walk 2 kilometers. Then, business centers are still very limited, on average they have to travel 9 kilometers to reach markets for business centers and so on,” said the former Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI.

Regarding the schedule for the meeting, Minister Yandri said he would leave the determination of this to President Prabowo Subianto. He then asked the regional heads to attach the results of the recommendations that had been formulated in the Coordination Meeting for Accelerating Development in Underdeveloped Regions when they meet with the President later.

He said that the 30 regions with underdeveloped status are located in several provinces. Among them are North Sumatra Province, including North Nias Regency, Nusa Tenggara Province, including three regencies, namely Central Sumba Regency, West Sumba Regency, and Sabu Raijua Regency.

“The rest are from Papua Province, both West Papua, Southwest Papua, South Papua, Papua Mountains, and Central Papua,” said Samsul Widodo.
