Minister to Expand JIS KRL Station, Currently Only One Platform
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Transport Dudy Purwagandhi stated that the KRL station at Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) will be developed further, as it currently only has one platform. “It is indeed only one platform at the moment, and we have conveyed to the DKI Jakarta Government that we will develop it further,” Dudy said when met at JIS Station on Monday. Nevertheless, he noted that as of today, the station is already active and can be utilised by the public. The travel time from Jakarta Kota Station to JIS is approximately 10 to 15 minutes. “So it is already active, and we will increasingly develop it into a permanent station. We expect it to be completed within the next year,” Dudy explained. On the same occasion, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo expressed hope that the presence of the Jakarta JIS KRL Station and the pedestrian bridge (JPO) connecting the JIS area with Ancol could resolve transportation problems in the area. “I hope this will become a starting point or initial foundation for maximising the use of JIS. Because as we know, the main problems at JIS are parking and transportation,” Pramono said. He assessed that the availability of the KRL and Transjabodetabek services in the area could reduce traffic congestion around JIS and Ancol. In fact, people bringing private vehicles could park their cars in Ancol and walk to JIS via the JPO connecting the two locations. “This will significantly reduce the traffic congestion that has been a problem during concerts or football matches,” Pramono stated.
