Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono is inviting millennials and Gen Z to learn about cooperatives through the Gen Coop Run, part of the 79th National Cooperative Day commemorations that champion a healthy lifestyle. “This morning we are holding the Gen Coop Run. The Ministry of Cooperatives wants to target the younger generation, millennials and Gen Z,” Ferry said after flagging off thousands of participants in Jakarta on Sunday. Ferry stated that the Gen Coop Run was designed to target young people so they become more familiar with cooperatives as a relevant, modern economic movement that is close to daily life. The activity follows the peak celebration of National Cooperative Day at Indonesia Arena, which was attended by President Prabowo Subianto on 12 July 2026. The Gen Coop Run was organised by the Ministry of Cooperatives together with the Indonesian Cooperative Council in the Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said area, taking advantage of the Car Free Day. Ferry also expressed his appreciation to Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo for the arrangement of the Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said area, making it greener, more comfortable, and supportive of community activities. He said the transformation of Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said has also benefited the environment around the Ministry of Cooperatives while opening up a more representative public space for community and sports activities. Ferry hopes the Gen Coop Run can become a means to build a healthy lifestyle while strengthening the younger generation’s closeness to cooperatives through inclusive, open, and enjoyable activities. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the Gen Coop Run was the first activity by a ministry or agency on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said since the implementation of Car Free Day and is expected to strengthen collaboration with the Jakarta Provincial Government. “Hopefully events like this, collaborations like this, will make ministries and agencies, and of course Jakarta, more colourful. And now many people are taking advantage of this to exercise to live healthier,” Pramono said.
