Minister Targets Aceh Disaster-Affected Schools Ready for Use by 2026
Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has set a target for the majority of disaster-affected schools undergoing revitalisation in Aceh to be ready for use by the 2026-2027 academic year. “We are targeting that for this new academic year, most of the schools that have been completed can be used. Indeed, there are some schools still in process, especially those being relocated to new sites,” he said after inaugurating revitalised schools in Pidie Regency on Monday. He explained that his visit to Pidie was to review the progress of school revitalisation, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts, which are being carried out in cooperation with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and to officially open schools completed in 2025. In 2025, Pidie Regency received revitalisation for 21 school units, comprising one Early Childhood Education (PAUD) unit, two Primary Schools (SD), four Junior High Schools (SMP), 11 Senior High Schools (SMA), two Vocational High Schools (SMK), and one Special Needs School (SLB). According to the minister, the schools included in the revitalisation programme are now in excellent condition and highly suitable for learning. He noted that President Prabowo is paying serious attention to the school revitalisation efforts. “The President is giving serious attention to ensuring this revitalisation is completed quickly, so that children can learn calmly and comfortably to achieve their best,” the minister said. Accompanied by Deputy Regent of Pidie Alzaizi, he encouraged continued support for students to pursue their dreams and contribute to the nation. The government, he added, continues to strive to provide the best facilities and supporting infrastructure to advance education across all corners of the country.
