Minister Supratman: Prabowo Calls Corruption a National Enemy, Not Just a Government Foe
Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas has affirmed President Prabowo Subianto’s message and commitment to eradicating corruption.
Supratman said Prabowo consistently stresses that corruption is not only an enemy of the government, but an enemy of the Indonesian nation.
“His message is clear: corruption is an enemy of the nation. Not just an enemy of the government, but an enemy of the nation,” Supratman told reporters on Friday, 14 August 2026.
Therefore, Supratman believes good governance is needed to eradicate corruption, not merely imposing punishment.
“That is why good governance is needed, not just about punishing, but how to improve the bureaucracy. He was speaking generally about the bureaucracy,” he said.
One example, Supratman said, is building a digital-based government system.
“That is why everywhere he always states that one of the best ways to reduce corruption, if we cannot eliminate it 100 percent, is to implement a digital-based government system,” he explained.
“While preparing regulations to further deter people who might have the intention to commit such acts,” Supratman concluded.
