Minister: SPPG is a Vital Instrument for Developing High-Quality Human Resources
The Minister of Population and Family Development (Mendukbangga) and Head of BKKBN, Wihaji, stated that the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) serve as a crucial instrument in the effort to build high-quality Human Resources (SDM).
“I have been mandated by the President to ensure that Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) reach the community, specifically pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers outside of early childhood education (3B). Therefore, SPPG is one of the vital instruments in the effort to improve the quality of human resources from an early age,” Wihaji said in an official statement in Jakarta on Friday.
By providing safe, healthy, and high-quality nutritious food, the government aims to continuously support child growth and accelerate stunting prevention efforts in various regions.
While inspecting the operations of SPPG Pulonas 02 in Babussalam District, Southeast Aceh Regency, on Wednesday, the Minister ensured that the implementation of the nutrition fulfilment programme for students and other target groups is proceeding according to standards and providing tangible benefits to the community.
According to data from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), SPPG Pulonas 02 currently serves 2,316 portions of Free Nutritious Meals daily for students, while providing 463 portions daily for the ‘3B’ group. The kitchen operations are supported by 47 workers operating six days a week.
In addition to serving students, the distribution of nutritious meals for the 3B group is carried out through the Batu Bulan Integrated Healthcare Centre (Posyandu) as one of the distribution points.
“The 3B nutritious meal programme is unique in the world. The success of this programme is determined not only by the central government but also by the support of local governments, implementers, healthcare workers, and the community. Through collective effort, we can realise a healthy, intelligent, and productive generation,” he added.
This working visit is part of the government’s efforts to ensure that nutrition fulfilment and family development programmes are implemented effectively at the regional level, while simultaneously strengthening measures to accelerate stunting reduction and improve the quality of Indonesia’s human resources.
