Minister Says Exhibitions Strengthen Food and Beverage Industry Development
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana has stated that exhibitions can strengthen Indonesian tourism, especially in the food, beverage, and hospitality industries. “As a platform that connects local producers with international buyers, drives investment, and builds partnerships to realise an Indonesian tourism ecosystem that is increasingly innovative, resilient, and globally competitive,” she said in Jakarta on Tuesday. Widiyanti noted that developing this sector is key to enhancing the quality of the tourist experience while strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian destinations in the global market. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that Indonesia’s economy grew by 5.61 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026. The accommodation and food and beverage sector recorded the highest growth at 13.14 per cent, while government consumption increased by 21.81 per cent. The prospects for Indonesia’s food, beverage, and hospitality industry continue to show a positive trend, contributing approximately 2.68 per cent to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) or around Rp639 trillion in 2025. Director of Food & Hospitality Indonesia 2026 Portfolio Meysia Stephanie added that the exhibition has evolved into an international business platform connecting industry players from various countries with Indonesian producers and businesses. “Indonesia is entering a new growth phase for the food, beverage, and hospitality industry. Amid rising investment and market demand, industry players need more than just exhibition space; they need an ecosystem that brings together innovation, investment, and global collaboration,” she said. The exhibition is expected to open wider market access and encourage strategic partnerships that will enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian industry while expanding its role in the global supply chain.
