Minister: Rp5.9 Trillion Allocated for MagangHub and Vocational Training
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Yassierli said the government has allocated an additional budget of Rp5.9 trillion to strengthen the 2026 National Internship Programme (MagangHub) and vocational training in order to improve the competence and competitiveness of the Indonesian workforce.
“For the national internship programme we received an additional Rp4.2 trillion, and for vocational training we received an additional Rp1.7 trillion, just last month,” the minister said following the opening of a Job Fair entitled AI Career Boost Day 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Yassierli said the government is strengthening the vocational training programme as part of a strategy to build superior human resources through practical skills that match the needs of the world of work and industry.
He explained that the government is targeting 300,000 participants in vocational training, supported by the additional budget of Rp1.7 trillion. The programme covers a range of conventional skills, such as welding, mechanics, air-conditioning repair, and electronics.
Beyond conventional skills, the Ministry of Manpower is also beginning to develop technology-based training, such as smart operations, smart farming, and smart building. Training durations are tailored to the competencies required, ranging from one to two months, while welding training can last up to six months.
Yassierli said that graduates of welding training from the ministry’s training centres have strong employment prospects and are already in high demand from foreign companies, with salaries reaching tens of millions of rupiah per month as welder operators.
The vocational training programme is carried out through 42 training centres owned by the Ministry of Manpower, in cooperation with regional government training centres, so that service coverage expands and opportunities for improving competence can be felt by communities across the regions.
“Hopefully this demonstrates that the government, the Ministry of Manpower, and President Prabowo Subianto want to build superior human resources. This quota of 300,000 for vocational training — try asking other countries whether they also have a vocational training programme for 300,000 people,” Yassierli said.
According to Yassierli, strengthening human resource competence is one of the keys to facing global economic challenges, which is why the government continues to expand access to vocational training to create an Indonesian workforce that is increasingly competent, productive, and competitive.
Meanwhile, for the second cohort of the National Internship Programme in 2026, the Ministry of Manpower has prepared a quota of 150,000. Implementation is divided into three stages, each with a quota of 50,000 participants.
As of the close of stage-one registration on 28 July, 300,000 applicants had registered to compete for 50,000 available places. After registration closed on 28 July 2026, the process continued with participant selection until 5 August 2026.
Next, the plenary session and confirmation of participants will take place on 6 August 2026, the announcement of selection results on 7 August 2026, internships will begin on 10 August 2026, and the kick-off of the 2026 National Internship Programme Stage 1 is scheduled for 11 August 2026.
During the six-month programme, participants receive a stipend based on the Regency/City Minimum Wage according to the location of the partner organisation.
In addition, participants are covered by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (workers’ social security), which includes the Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Insurance (JKM) programmes.
