Minister Rosan Reports to President on Progress of Kampung Haji in Mecca
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, who also serves as CEO of BPI Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, delivered an update to the President of the Republic of Indonesia at Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (6/8/2026). He said the report covered the results of his visit to Saudi Arabia last week, as well as discussions on strengthening the performance of state-owned enterprises (BUMN).
“First, the programme for the development, planning, and construction of the Kampung Haji in the Holy Land of Makkah. We have already processed the selection of the architect and the illustrations, and the President asked for an update, which we have provided. I have also just returned from Makkah, Madinah, and Jeddah, where we happened to have cooperation with the investment ministry there,” Rosan told reporters.
In addition, Rosan explained the President’s directive to simplify the organisational structure of state-owned enterprises. He said the measure would be implemented to reduce bureaucratic layers so that decision-making within BUMN can proceed more quickly.
“His directives also include reducing layers, especially in large state-owned companies such as Pertamina, PLN, and others, so that decision-making becomes faster, productivity increases, efficiency is better maintained, and of course this applies to other BUMN as well,” Rosan said.
