Minister Rosan Denies Foreign Investors Are Reluctant to Invest in Indonesia
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani has dismissed suggestions that foreign investors are becoming reluctant to place capital in Indonesia. According to him, the global investor response to Indonesia remains very positive.
Rosan stated that this was evident from the results of a series of roadshows he and his team conducted to various global financial centres, including Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Boston, Washington DC, New York, and Japan.
‘The response was surprisingly very positive, and Bloomberg and the international press also wrote that this was an unexpected achievement from Danantara’s roadshow. Not only from Danantara’s perspective but also from the economic perspective, and they responded very positively,’ said Rosan, who is also CEO of Danantara, at the DPR RI in Central Jakarta on Monday (5/6/2026).
Rosan stressed that global investors continue to view Indonesia as an attractive investment destination due to its long-term prospects. He is therefore confident that the flow of investment into Indonesia will be maintained.
‘I believe that investment coming into Indonesia will remain sustained. Because when they invest, they look at it as a long-term commitment,’ he said.
He added that investors still trust the stability and certainty of doing business in Indonesia. Consequently, he considers the narrative that foreign investors are no longer interested in entering Indonesia to be inconsistent with conditions on the ground.
‘So, they believe that the stability and certainty for investing in Indonesia is still well maintained. Regardless of what the news says out there, claiming that foreign countries or anyone else no longer wants to invest in Indonesia. I prove it with figures, I prove it with numbers, I prove it with statistics. Moreover, I will later convey the new investments that have come in from my overseas roadshow, and those entering are the world’s major investors. I will detail it at the Palace,’ Rosan asserted.
Rosan previously disclosed that investment realisation in the first quarter of 2026 reached Rp 498.8 trillion, or approximately 24.4 percent of the 2026 target of Rp 2,041.3 trillion. Foreign investment, or Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), was recorded at 50.1 percent, or Rp 250 trillion.
‘For example, domestic direct investment (PMDN) reached approximately 49.9 percent, or Rp 248.8 trillion, growing about 6 percent year-on-year. And FDI contributed almost the same, 50.1 percent, or Rp 250 trillion,’ Rosan concluded.
