Minister Rini Widyantini's Touching Message to Civil Servants: Uphold Integrity, Your Service is the Face of the Nation

Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini has delivered a touching message to all civil servants in Indonesia. Through an open letter shared on the ministry’s official Instagram account, Rini called on civil servants to continue upholding integrity, improving competence, and prioritising public service amidst various challenges.

The message was conveyed as a form of appreciation for the dedication of civil servants who carry out state duties every day, even though not all of their service receives public attention or spotlight. In her letter, Rini began with a warm greeting to all state apparatus whom she said are shouldering a great mandate.

‘Today I want to greet you as fellow human beings who are carrying a great mandate. I know, not every day is easy,’ Rini wrote in the letter uploaded via the Instagram account @menpanrb.

Rini acknowledged that civil servants work amidst various limitations, while public expectations for public services continue to rise. Nevertheless, she believes that state apparatus still wear the uniform of service every day to provide the best service and answer the needs of the community. According to her, every task carried out by a civil servant is not merely a job, but a mandate that holds the value of worship.

‘With all the limitations that exist and the high expectations of society, you still wear the uniform of service to provide services and answer the needs of the community. Know that your presence is a mandate and an act of worship,’ she said. Rini hopes that the spirit of serving the community will be maintained despite the various challenges faced in carrying out daily tasks.

In her message, Rini also recognised that not all the hard work of civil servants receives open appreciation. Many sacrifices made by state apparatus take place without any spotlight or news coverage. However, she stressed that every job done by civil servants has a real impact on people’s lives. She cited various forms of service performed daily by state apparatus, ranging from providing education services, health services, distributing aid to the community, infrastructure development, to accurate data management.
