Minister rewards healthy kids
JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Health Ahmad Suyudi awarded trophies on Saturday to the parents of this year's 10 winners of the Indonesian Healthy Infant Competition (LSBI).
Fourty-two infants from 26 provinces contested the finals of the competition.
The main awards went to Ryan Sahusilawane in the two-year-old group and Lieke Pertiwi Liestiadi in the six-month-old to one- year-old group.
Ryan is from Paso village, Baguala subdistrict, Ambon, Maluku, whereas Lieke is from Gunung Sahari Utara, Sawah Besar subdistrict, Central Jakarta.
All 10 winners were selected based on their mobility, social interaction, speech abilities and intellectual abilities, including singing, writing and drawing, said a statement the committee sent to The Jakarta Post.
There were 258,495 infants contesting LBSI 1999, which was a collaboration between food producer Indofood and the Indonesian Children's Welfare Foundation (YKAI). (ylt)
