Minister Reveals Prabowo's Reason for Appointing Nanik as BGN Supervisory Board Chair

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has shed light on the Supervisory Board structure within the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), following former BGN Head Nanik S. Deyang’s announcement of her resignation. Prasetyo explained that the supervisory board was already part of the BGN’s organisational design. “Indeed, within the organisational design of the BGN, there is what is called a Supervisory Board,” Prasetyo said at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7).

Prasetyo also revealed the reason President Prabowo Subianto appointed Nanik as Chair of the BGN Supervisory Board after she stepped down. He highlighted Nanik’s extensive experience within the agency. “Because of her experience before serving as Head of BGN, she had served as Deputy Head of BGN, then on 8 June she was appointed as Head of BGN. Of course, the President felt that with her experience, Mrs Nanik could still provide optimal contribution,” he said. Prasetyo added that President Prabowo wanted Nanik to continue overseeing the BGN’s performance, albeit in a different role, considering her health issues. He noted that Nanik chose to resign rather than take leave, and the Palace respected her decision.

“Of course, with a different role, because of health considerations, the President still asked Mrs Nanik to join in supervising, making successful, and together with the new leadership, improving all the implementation and governance within our National Nutrition Agency,” Prasetyo stated. He expressed gratitude on behalf of Prabowo and the government for Nanik’s contributions, noting that despite her short tenure, she had made significant breakthroughs alongside other BGN leaders, including Arumsari and Trenggono, to address shortcomings in the agency.

Nanik had earlier announced her resignation as Head of BGN to undergo medical treatment for a heart condition abroad. In a statement on her official Facebook account, she wrote that the President had accepted her resignation but asked her to remain involved in overseeing the BGN, likely by appointing her as chair of the supervisory board.
