Minister Resigns Amid Controversy Over LPG Scarcity
The Minister for Industry, Trade, and Supply of Nepal, Gauri Kumari Yadav, officially resigned from her position on Thursday (10/09/2026). This resignation comes shortly after she made controversial statements regarding the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) industry, which triggered a wave of criticism.
According to Kathmandu Today, on Thursday (10/09/2026), Yadav personally submitted her resignation letter to Prime Minister Balendra Shah.
Her communications coordinator, Kamal Chaulagain, stated that the resignation was based on personal reasons.
This sudden decision is a consequence of sharp remarks made by Yadav during a House of Representatives panel meeting on Wednesday. She asserted that the LPG supply would not be smooth unless decisive action is taken against industrialists.
These controversial statements were made amidst growing public concern regarding the availability of LPG supplies in the country. Yadav had previously faced continuous questioning and pressure regarding how the government intended to manage the worsening supply situation.
For context, Yadav had only recently assumed her role as the Minister for Industry, Trade, and Supply after being appointed in April of this year.
