Minister Purbaya Outlines Strategy to Pursue 2027 Economic Growth Target
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed a strategy to pursue national economic growth of 5.8 per cent to 6.5 per cent by 2027.
Speaking during a plenary session of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Tuesday, Purbaya explained that various prepared strategies are aimed at supporting economic activities to circulate more rapidly and strengthening the performance of the real sector. This approach is intended to drive increased consumption and stimulate investment, thereby accelerating the pace of economic growth.
“The target for 2027 is 5.8 per cent to 6.5 per cent, serving as a transmission towards 8 per cent growth by 2029,” said Purbaya.
The strategy to achieve this higher economic growth involves promoting fiscal, monetary, and financial sector policies that are aligned and mutually reinforcing. Furthermore, the plan seeks to accelerate high-value-added investments oriented towards exports.
This step will be realised through strengthening the role of the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) to accelerate productive investment in strategic sectors, as well as long-term investment to strengthen state assets by increasing the participation of global investors.
“Investments will be focused on strategic sectors capable of strengthening Indonesia’s position in the global supply chain and absorbing labour with better skills and wage levels,” Purbaya stated.
The government is also encouraging an increase in purchasing power through the effectiveness of social protection programmes, price stability, and inflation control, alongside the expansion of employment opportunities to ensure robust household consumption growth.
Flagship programmes will also be implemented effectively and with high quality to provide a strong multiplier effect for the economy and tangible benefits for the community. Priority programmes include Free Nutritious Meals, the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives, and People’s Schools (Sekolah Rakyat).
“Various priority programmes continue to be driven more effectively and qualitatively to create a wide-reaching multiplier effect,” said Purbaya.
