Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo has emphasised that every rupiah of the state budget managed by his ministry must deliver real benefits to the community.

“The Ministry of Public Works’ budget must be realised as services to the public, including optimal irrigation, connected roads, safe bridges, affordable drinking water for all, proper sanitation, and public facilities that are fit for use by all Indonesians,” Dody stated in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He explained that from the total indicative ceiling of Rp98.47 trillion for 2027, the largest allocation of Rp31.53 trillion is directed towards Strategic Infrastructure. This supports national priority programmes such as the construction of Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools), the rehabilitation and renovation of religious schools, and the partial handling of public infrastructure in post-disaster areas in Sumatra.

The Bina Marga (Highways) sector has been allocated Rp29.24 trillion for road construction and capacity upgrades, bridge construction and replacement, construction of flyovers and underpasses, suspension bridges, as well as road and bridge preservation.

Meanwhile, the Water Resources sector has been allocated Rp25.44 trillion for the construction and rehabilitation of irrigation networks, flood control structures, the Community-Based Infrastructure programme (IBM) or the Acceleration of Irrigation Water Management Improvement (P3-TGAI), and post-disaster infrastructure management.

The Cipta Karya (Human Settlements) sector has been allocated Rp11.07 trillion for the expansion of Drinking Water Supply Systems (SPAM), wastewater and solid waste management, development of national strategic areas, and the handling of basic service infrastructure in post-disaster areas.

Allocations for the Secretariat General, Inspectorate General, Agency for Infrastructure Development (BPIW), Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM), Directorate General of Construction Development, and Directorate General of Infrastructure Financing total Rp1.19 trillion.

Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has approved the indicative ceiling for the Ministry of Public Works for the 2027 fiscal year at Rp98.47 trillion. The approval refers to a joint letter from the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas and the Minister of Finance regarding the indicative spending ceiling for ministries and agencies for the 2027 fiscal year. In that document, the Ministry of Public Works’ budget requirement reached Rp291 trillion, while the approved indicative ceiling stands at Rp98.47 trillion.

“Going forward, Commission V of the DPR will fight for an increase in the budget to finance national priority programmes and community-based programmes, in accordance with existing mechanisms and legal provisions,” said Commission V Chairman Lasarus.
