Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has assured that the government will immediately develop the infrastructure at the KRL Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) station. The move is intended to optimise the function of the station, which currently operates with only one platform.

During his visit to the JIS Station on Monday (22/6), Minister Dudy explained that coordination with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has been carried out to increase the station’s capacity. “It is indeed still one platform, and we have conveyed to the DKI government that we will develop it further,” Dudy said at the location.

Although still in the development stage, Dudy confirmed that the JIS Station is already active and can be used by the public. Based on operational data, the travel duration from Jakarta Kota Station to JIS takes only about 10 to 15 minutes.

The government is targeting the transformation of JIS Station into a permanent station with complete facilities to be completed in the near future. “So it is already active and we will increasingly develop it as a permanent station. We expect it to be finished within the next year,” he added.

On the same occasion, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo welcomed the development of this rail-based transportation access. According to him, the presence of the JIS KRL Station and the Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) connecting JIS with Ancol is key to solving classic problems in the area.

“I hope this will be a starting point or foundation for maximising the use of JIS. Because as we know, the main problems at JIS are parking and transportation,” Pramono said. He assessed that the integration between the KRL, Transjabodetabek buses, and the provision of parking pockets in Ancol will significantly reduce traffic congestion during major events. With the JPO, visitors can park their vehicles in the Ancol area and then walk comfortably to the stadium. “This will reduce a lot of the traffic that has been a problem during concerts or football matches,” he concluded.
