Minister: President Sides with Low-Income Communities Through BSPS and KUR Housing Programmes

Housing and Settlement Areas Minister Maruarar Sirait has stated that the Home Renovation Programme, or Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS), the reduction in financing interest rates for PT PNM, and the People’s Business Credit (KUR) for Housing, represent President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to siding with low-income communities (MBR).

“This is a complete package and the target recipients are MBR, so it’s not just about building their houses but also their economy,” Ara said in Batu City, East Java, on Wednesday.

He noted that this year President Prabowo Subianto has increased the BSPS quota to 400,000 from 45,000 in 2025. For the KUR Perumahan programme, the government has waived the collateral requirement for ceilings below Rp100 million, with an interest rate of 0.5 percent per month and 6 percent per annum.

“The interest rate for PNM has now been reduced to 8 percent. Last year, President Prabowo made the Land and Building Rights Acquisition Fee (BPHTB) and Building Approval (PBG) free of charge, which were previously paid. This is part of the state’s intervention,” he said.

During his visit to Batu City, Minister Ara was accompanied by the Head of the Housing Task Force, Hashim Djojohadikusumo. The Minister emphasised that the key success indicator for the BSPS programme is transforming previously uninhabitable houses into decent living spaces.

Because the programme focuses on MBR, the government under Prabowo’s leadership has committed to continuously striving to do its best. “Obstacles will always exist, but we are fighting for the people, and the benefits are returned to the people,” he said.

At the same location, Head of the Housing Task Force Hashim Djojohadikusumo added that the home renovation programme is being strengthened by other initiatives. “There is a free certification programme, with the hope that the government can provide free certificates to 2 million heads of families every year, specifically for MBR,” he stated.
