Minister PANRB Praises Dedication and Example of Retired Civil Servants
Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Rini Widyantini paid tribute to retired civil servants who have contributed to laying the foundations for the progress of Indonesia’s bureaucracy.
Rini delivered the tribute during the 15th National Congress (Munas) held concurrently with the 64th anniversary of the Indonesian Civil Servants’ Retirees Association (PWRI) in Jakarta.
“Every advance in today’s bureaucracy stands on the footsteps, long dedication and sweat of the civil servants who have upheld the pillars of the Republic of Indonesia,” she said in a statement on Saturday (25 July 2026).
She stated that the wisdom and exemplary conduct of the wredatama — retired civil servants — constitute a highly valuable national asset. Although they have entered retirement, their experience remains relevant to accompanying the transformation of the bureaucracy while inspiring the generation of civil servants (ASN) who continue the baton of service.
According to her, the government continues to accelerate bureaucratic reform through various approaches, including thematic and digital approaches, merit-based civil service management, and improvements in the quality of public services.

However, this transformation cannot be sustained by technology and regulation alone; it also requires character, experience and exemplary conduct,” she explained.
From the perspective of Law Number 20 of 2023 on Civil Servants, Rini described the wredatama as true examples of retirees who have carried out the functions of the ASN as implementers of public policy, public servants, and as the glue that unites the nation.
“Today we are transforming not to replace old values, but to preserve and continue the core BerAKHLAK values that you have bequeathed,” she said.
To ensure these values live on, Minister Rini entrusted three messages to the extended PWRI family. First, PWRI is expected to continue serving as the guardian of the values of ASN service. The experience, integrity and exemplary conduct of the wredatama can serve as inspiration for the current generation of civil servants carrying out their duties.
Second, PWRI is expected to further strengthen its role as a strategic partner of the government. The wredatama’s long experience is regarded as a source of wisdom that can enrich the formulation of public policy and promote better governance.
Third, PWRI was asked to continue strengthening national unity and optimism by playing its role as a calming example, a unifier, and a spreader of optimism towards Golden Indonesia 2045.
Meanwhile, Acting Chairman of the PWRI Central Board Setyanto P. Santosa affirmed that PWRI must remain an organisation that contributes to the nation while serving as a shared home for retired civil servants.
“At PWRI there are no longer institutional divisions. What exists is a spirit of brotherhood founded on a shared dedication to the nation and state,” he said.
Furthermore, Minister Rini stressed that the state is obliged to ensure that civil servants experience a dignified retirement. This is in line with the mandate of Law Number 20 of 2023 on Civil Servants, which regulates pension and old-age security as a form of income continuity protection, a right, and recognition of their service.
“A civil servant’s dedication never knows a full stop; there is only a comma to continue that service in a new form. Thank you for all your dedication and noble example for Ibu Pertiwi,” she concluded.
