Minister P2MI Says Government Has Prepared Evacuation Scheme for PMIs in the Middle East

The government has prepared anticipatory measures, including an evacuation scheme, for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in the Middle East following the escalating security situation in the region, said Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Mukhtarudin. The government is currently coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassies in the relevant countries to ensure every handling step is carried out in accordance with diplomatic procedures and applicable regulations, as this involves the authority of other nations. “We are coordinating, coordinating with the Indonesian Embassies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs because this involves the authority of other countries. Several Indonesian Embassies have issued appeals to Indonesian citizens to increase their vigilance following the worsening security conditions in the region. “Especially in Abu Dhabi and its surroundings, an announcement has been made by the Indonesian Embassy to increase vigilance and take all necessary precautions,” he stated. Minister Mukhtarudin emphasised that the government has prepared various anticipatory steps should the situation deteriorate, including a large-scale evacuation scenario for Indonesian citizens in the area. Tensions in the Middle East have risen since February, when the United States and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran. In retaliation, Tehran carried out missile and drone attacks targeting Gulf states where US military assets are located. The situation has further intensified in recent days due to disputes over the Strait of Hormuz, triggering mutual attacks between the two sides.
