Minister Opens Opportunity for 2026 Civil Servant Recruitment, Schedule and Formations Still Under Calculation with Finance Ministry

The government has given a positive signal regarding the opening of the Civil Servant Candidate (CPNS) selection in 2026. Although the schedule and number of positions have not yet been announced, the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) has confirmed that CPNS recruitment remains a programme being prepared by the government.

Minister of PANRB Rini Widyantini stated that the government is currently conducting inter-ministerial discussions to determine the timing of the selection, the required formations, and the state’s financial capacity. According to Rini, this process cannot be rushed because the government wants to ensure that the formations opened truly meet the needs of government agencies and President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes.

“We are currently discussing it. First, we must focus on the fact that we have previously sent letters regarding the mapping of job competencies, what competencies are needed,” Rini said at the PANRB Ministry office in Jakarta on Friday, 24 July 2026.

Rini explained that all government agencies have been asked to submit their competency mapping requirements. This data serves as the basis for the government in determining which CPNS formations will be opened. According to her, the planning of civil service needs not only considers the number of employees required but also must support President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes.

“Government agencies have submitted their data, and of course, I must also pay attention to formations for the President’s priority programmes,” she said.

Therefore, the government is currently synchronising all the proposed needs submitted by ministries, agencies, and regional governments. Although the selection schedule has not been decided, Rini confirmed that the government is continuing to prepare for the opening of CPNS recruitment. However, the final decision still depends on the results of discussions with the Ministry of Finance, particularly regarding the readiness of the state budget to support the intake of new civil servants.

“This is still being calculated, and we are also discussing with the Ministry of Finance regarding the state’s financial capacity. So, God willing, CPNS remains a programme that we are preparing,” she said. Rini added that the government does not want to set a schedule before all necessary aspects are fully prepared.
