Minister of Women's Empowerment Ensures Mudik Facilities at Pasar Senen Station Are Women and Child-Friendly
The Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (Minister for Women’s Empowerment), Arifah Fauzi, has ensured that the facilities and transportation services provided by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) during the 2026 Eid mudik period have been functioning well and providing a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for women and children.
This was conveyed when the Minister inspected the readiness of mudik facilities for Eid 2026 at Pasar Senen Station alongside station management officials on Friday, 13 March.
“We can see remarkable progress. Facilities at Pasar Senen Station have improved significantly, and the comfort of women and children is increasingly being prioritised. However, these facilities are not solely the responsibility of the transportation service provider; support and cooperation from all parties are needed to ensure optimal operation,” said Minister Arifah.
During the inspection, the Minister examined several facilities provided for mudik travellers as part of efforts to create a women and child-friendly homecoming experience. These facilities include prayer rooms, nursing stations, children’s play areas equipped with traditional games, and health clinics.
The presence of these various facilities is part of the government’s commitment to providing more inclusive and family-friendly public transportation services, particularly during the anticipated surge in passengers during the Eid mudik period.
In addition to inspecting facilities, the Minister also greeted women and children preparing for their journey home to their villages.
“The readiness of facilities and infrastructure to support specific needs and protect women and children during the mudik period has progressed well through support from various parties, including transportation operators, service staff, and relevant stakeholders,” she said.
The Minister also urged the public to remain vigilant during their 2026 Eid mudik journeys to ensure safety. Travellers are encouraged to report immediately if they experience or witness any violence or other incidents during their journey.
“We urge mudik travellers to remain alert during their journeys, including by not carrying excessive valuables to ensure safety. If the public experiences or witnesses violence or other incidents during mudik, they should immediately report through the SAPA 129 service or the nearest mudik complaint post so that action can be taken promptly,” she stated.
She also advised travellers to prepare their journeys carefully, maintain their health, and follow staff instructions whilst in public transport areas. With facility readiness and coordination among various parties, the 2026 Eid mudik flow is expected to proceed in an orderly, safe, and comfortable manner for all people, particularly women and children.
Meanwhile, the Head of Pasar Senen Station, Leno Yusandri, affirmed that the station continues to ensure service and facility readiness for passengers during the Eid mudik period.
“We are committed to providing safe and comfortable services for all passengers, including women and children. Various facilities such as nursing rooms, children’s play areas, health clinics, and enhanced staff services are being prepared so that people’s mudik journeys can proceed smoothly,” said Leno.
