Minister of Women's Empowerment Applauds West Java Police for Arresting Abuse Perpetrator

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi has expressed appreciation for law enforcement officers who followed up on reports and arrested TH, the perpetrator of the false imprisonment and abuse suffered by a woman with the initials YTR in Bandung, West Java. “We appreciate the swift and decisive action of the West Java Regional Police in uncovering and handling this case. We hope the legal process will be conducted professionally, transparently, and with a focus on fulfilling the victim’s rights,” said Minister Arifah Fauzi in Jakarta on Wednesday. Arifah Fauzi stressed that all forms of violence against women constitute human rights violations that cannot be tolerated and must be handled seriously. “No one should ever experience violence, let alone suffer physical or psychological harm. In situations like this, the most important thing is to ensure the victim receives protection, assistance, and access to the necessary recovery services,” she said. The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection will continue to oversee the handling of this case and coordinate with various relevant parties to ensure the victim obtains the required services and that her rights are fulfilled throughout the case management process. “We will continue to oversee and coordinate with the West Java UPTD PPA and various parties so that the victim can gain a sense of security, psychological support, health services, and the necessary assistance to recover and resume her life properly. The victim’s recovery must be the primary concern in every handling of a violence case,” said Minister Arifatul Choiri Fauzi. The West Java Regional Police successfully arrested Taufik Hidayat, the suspect in the case of false imprisonment and abuse of a woman with the initials YTR (29) at the Griya Pesona Housing Complex in Ciparay, Bandung Regency. The case came to light after the victim’s family received a message via WhatsApp from an unknown person informing them that the victim was at the Emergency Department of Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung. As a result of the violent acts allegedly committed by the suspect, the victim sustained a number of severe injuries, including impaired vision leading to blindness in both eyes, a torn lip, difficulty speaking, an inability to walk normally, and the loss of several valuable items.
