Manggarai (ANTARA) - Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi visited earthquake victims being treated at the Santu Rafael Cancar General Hospital in Wae Belang, Ruteng District, Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

“We are here to offer our support, and hopefully this will lift the spirits of our brothers and sisters who are unwell. Let us pray together, sir, ma’am. Get well soon,” said Minister Arifah Fauzi to patients at the field hospital of Santu Rafael Cancar Hospital in Manggarai Regency, NTT, on Wednesday.

The tent-based field hospital was set up in the front yard of the hospital.

She expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Health for moving quickly to establish field hospitals in NTT following the earthquake, including at this hospital.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the Health Foundation of Santu Rafael Cancar General Hospital, Sister Yohana, said that the patients being treated at the field hospital are those who suffered injuries due to the earthquake.

“These are people from remote villages who were only identified after our team went into the field. It turns out there are many of them. Most are suffering from injuries, whether from jumping, as one patient mentioned, or from running. Some have undergone surgery, several people already,” said Yohana.

The patients are generally elderly and come from Manggarai Regency and East Manggarai Regency.

In treating the patients, Santu Rafael Cancar Hospital is working with orthopaedic specialists from Dr Soetomo Regional General Hospital in Surabaya and Brawijaya University Hospital in Malang.

Currently, there are 17 patients being treated at the field hospital.
