Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifah Fauzi stated that women’s involvement in productive activities in villages has great potential for local economic development, while strengthening family food security. “The Maju Berkah Women’s Farmer Group (KWT) demonstrates that women have a crucial role in supporting the fulfilment of family food needs. Through the utilisation of home yards, garden produce can be used for household consumption, thereby helping to reduce expenses while improving the quality of food intake,” said Minister PPPA Arifah Fauzi in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. She added that household-scale agricultural development through KWT Maju Berkah can serve as a shared learning space for women to enhance skills and capacity, from production processes to business management. Meanwhile, Acting Regent of Cilacap Regency Ammy Amalia Fatma Surya expressed support for the development of KWT Maju Berkah as part of strengthening village community economy based on women’s empowerment and family food security. Her side hopes that KWT Maju Berkah can become a model for other villages in developing women’s empowerment based on integrated agriculture and fisheries.
