Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifah Fauzi has proposed placing women’s KRL carriages in the middle of the train set. This proposal follows the fatal collision between the Argo Bromo train and a KRL at Bekasi Timur Station. “But with this incident, we propose that if possible, the women’s carriage be placed in the middle,” Arifah told reporters after visiting victims at Bekasi City Hospital on Tuesday (28/4/2026). Arifah has coordinated with PT KAI while inquiring about the women’s special carriage. She also received an explanation from KAI regarding the position of the women’s carriage at the front or rear. “Earlier, when we talked with KAI, why it’s placed at the very front or very back, so that there is no scrambling,” she said. However, according to Arifah, due to the impact of this accident, she wants a change. She requested that the end carriages be filled with male carriages. “So the men’s at the ends. Front and back are men’s, so the women’s in the middle like that,” she said. In this fatal accident, the Argo Bromo train hit the rear of the KRL that was stopped at Bekasi Station. All victims were women in the women’s carriage. “100 percent of those we evacuated (victims) are women,” said Head of Basarnas Major General M Syafii to reporters at the location on Tuesday (28/4/2026). He explained that the evacuation process was completed at 08:00 WIB earlier. All SAR teams have also been sent back. “Alhamdulillah, thanks to the cooperation of all parties, the SAR operation could be carried out as we hoped, and this morning at 08:00 it was completed. All our SAR teams are stated, we return them to their respective home bases,” he said.
