Minister of Villages to Provide Assistance for Rp 1 Billion per Village Programme in West Lombok
The Minister of Villages and Underdeveloped Regions, Yandri Susanto, has expressed his support for the West Lombok Regency Government’s programme allocating a budget of Rp 1 billion per village. Yandri stated that his ministry will provide assistance regarding the programme. “We support it, and we will also provide guidance,” Yandri said while attending the 68th Anniversary of West Lombok Regency on Friday (17/4/2026). Yandri noted that the Rp 1 billion per village programme aligns with several programmes in the Ministry of Villages and Underdeveloped Regions (Kemendes PDT), including the village tourism programme. “We have village tourism, laying hen villages, broiler chicken villages, tilapia villages, eel villages, and export villages. We have created all of them, and this has already been implemented by the Regent,” he said. Nevertheless, Yandri assessed that the potential of villages in West Lombok still needs to be developed. He assured that his ministry will assist the regency government in optimising that potential. “Insyaallah, we will enhance the potential,” Yandri added. The Regent of West Lombok, Lalu Ahmad Zaini (LAZ), officially launched the Rp 1 billion per village programme during the 68th Anniversary celebration of West Lombok. LAZ explained that the programme aims to equalise development in West Lombok while realising the vision of prosperous villages. “Of course, this is according to the needs of the village,” said LAZ. LAZ explained that the Rp 1 billion funds will be channelled in the form of programmes. According to him, the programmes are adjusted to the potential of each village proposed during the Village Development Planning Consultation (Musrenbangdes). On the other hand, LAZ acknowledged that the programme may not run optimally in the first year. Nevertheless, he promised to remain committed to continuous evaluation and improvement. “The important thing is my promise that the Rp 1 billion per village programme can be realised. In the future, I will evaluate it to make it better. This is annual, after all,” he concluded.
