Surabaya (ANTARA) - Minister of Transmigration Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara handed over the diploma of the late patriot graduate of Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Abdul Rohid, to his parents during ITS’s 133rd Graduation Ceremony in Surabaya on Saturday.

“The late Abdul Rohid not only completed his studies but also fulfilled his life’s duty as a dutiful son, a useful human being, and a patriot for his nation,” said Iftitah at Grha Sepuluh Nopember.

He even postponed his graduation since September 2025 to carry out his service duties.

ITS Rector Prof Bambang Pramujati expressed grief as well as pride over the late graduate’s exemplary conduct during his service period.

The graduation procession at Grha Sepuluh Nopember was emotional as the late student’s parents received the applied bachelor’s degree diploma.

Abdul Rohid was a graduate of the D4 Instrumentation Engineering Technology programme in the Instrumentation Engineering Department of the ITS Vocational Faculty.

He completed his studies in eight semesters with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.58 and cum laude honours.

During his service with TEP, Rohid’s health condition deteriorated until he eventually passed away. His passing left deep sorrow, as well as exemplary values of dedication and humanity.

As a form of attention, the Ministry of Transmigration is providing a scholarship for the late student’s sibling until they graduate from vocational high school (SMK). ITS is also preparing support for the sibling’s further education.

In addition, the late student’s family handed over the prototype of the Smart Air Purifier and Humidifier created by Abdul Rohid to ITS as evidence of his academic contributions and innovations that have brought honour to the campus.

The Applied Bachelor of Engineering (STrT) degree awarded symbolises that the late student has completed his academic and social service, while also strengthening ITS’s contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly quality education and economic growth.
