Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana launched the Indonesia Tourism Outlook 2026/2027 on National Tourism Day as a strategic reference for stakeholders to interpret dynamics, capture opportunities, anticipate challenges, and determine the direction of tourism development towards 2027. Widi stated that World Tourism Day is not merely a moment for celebration, but also an opportunity to reflect on the tourism sector’s journey and prepare future steps amidst a constantly changing global landscape.

“The global tourism landscape is moving very dynamically. From geopolitical uncertainty and climate challenges to the rapid development of artificial intelligence, these bring both new challenges and opportunities,” she said in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday (28/9/2026).

Amidst these various dynamics, Widi noted that Indonesian tourism continues to show positive performance. From January to July 2026, international tourist arrivals reached 8.98 million visits, representing a growth of 5.23 per cent compared to the same period the previous year.

Widi stated that this achievement serves as important capital to strengthen the national tourism sector. However, Widi cautioned all stakeholders against complacency.
