Minister of Social Affairs: Proceeds from the auction of 6.2 kilograms of gold to help families in need
JAKARTA — The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) said the proceeds from the auction of 6.2 kilograms of gold from prizes will be used to assist residents in need. ‘The proceeds will be wholly directed to helping families in need, whether it is for making housing more habitable or for business assistance so they can become more economically independent,’ Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf said at a press conference at the Ministry of Social Affairs office in Jakarta on Wednesday (20 May 2026). The items up for auction are prizes from the Free Prize Draw (UGB) since 2008. These items are ‘HTT’ (hadiah tidak tertebak) and ‘HTDP’ (hadiah tidak diambil pemenangnya) and were handed to the Ministry. ‘HTT means the prize exists but is not claimed. There are also HTDP, where the winner has been determined but not claimed,’ Saifullah said. The aanwijzing session will be conducted on Thursday, 21 May 2026 from 13:30 to 15:00 WIB via Zoom Meeting. Meanwhile, the auction process has been running from 13 May 2026 to 25 May 2026 at 14:35 WIB according to server time. Saifullah emphasised that the auction is open to the general public and is hoped to attract many bidders so that the proceeds can be more effective in helping the community. ‘This is open; anyone who wants to participate is welcome. The more bidders, the better—especially if the price keeps rising. The intention is to help those in need,’ he concluded.
