Minister of Religious Affairs reports Nuzulul Quran plan to Prabowo
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar arrived at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday, to report on the night-time worship activity of Nuzulul Quran. He said his meeting with President Prabowo Subianto was solely to discuss the plan for the event. For discussions on other issues, Nasaruddin admitted he could not provide more detailed information yet. “The agenda has not been explained. We are here to report only on Nuzulul Quran,” Nasaruddin said. However, the location of the event has not yet been decided. Regarding the United States-Israel and Iran conflict, Nasaruddin said the ulama had not been invited to discuss. “Not yet; yesterday they were not involved. This is only to report on Nuzulul Quran,” he explained. Thousands of mosques will be provided with security around worship areas and parking, toilet cleanliness, availability of ablution water, power charging stations for devices, comfortable worship spaces, rest areas, availability of drinking water and snacks, and information centres for travellers. Nasaruddin stressed that the annual Lebaran mudik (homecoming) tradition must be safe, enjoyable and smooth. Therefore, the Ministry of Religious Affairs must take part, in addition to public service, it is also a field of good deeds. He also highlighted readiness for Nyepi Day in Bali on 19 March 2026. He explained that if Eid al-Fitr falls on 20 March, the takbir in Bali would still be allowed but conducted in a limited manner, without loudspeakers, without vehicle processions, and with minimal lighting.
