Jakarta — Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag), Nasaruddin Umar, met with President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto to brief him on plans for the Nuzulul Qur’an ceremony on 17 Ramadan. Nasaruddin said the Nuzulul Qur’an will be held at the State Palace, Central Jakarta. ‘I have just briefed the President on the preparations for the Nuzulul Qur’an. God willing, the Nuzulul Qur’an will be held in Jakarta, specifically at the State Palace,’ he told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. Nasaruddin revealed that there had been options to hold the event at Istiqlal Mosque or at the Capital City Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan. However, President Prabowo decided that the Nuzulul Qur’an event should be held at the State Palace. ‘We discussed the technical aspects as there are many alternatives, whether at IKN, at Istiqlal, or at the State Palace. The President gave instructions that we should hold it at the State Palace,’ he said. On that occasion, Nasaruddin Umar also spoke about zakat payments for President Prabowo and members of the Merah Putih Cabinet. He said Prabowo and his colleagues would pay zakat through Baznas at the State Palace. ‘We also discussed zakat payments for the President and his officials; we will schedule them at the State Palace,’ Nasaruddin concluded.
