Minister of Religious Affairs: Eid al-Adha Teaches Sincerity and Compassion
JAKARTA – KOMPAS.com – Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar stated that the occasion of Eid al-Adha encourages and teaches the community to uphold the spirit of sincerity and concern.
“In the midst of the dynamic lives we face together, Eid al-Adha calls us to reaffirm the values of sincerity, compassion, and social responsibility,” he said in Jakarta on Tuesday (26/5/2026), according to Antara.
He explained that the ritual of sacrifice has tangible social significance. The distribution of sacrificial meat is not merely symbolic but a concrete expression of concern, strengthening food security and family protein intake.
“The spirit of sacrifice is an energy of togetherness. It drives solidarity, strengthens mutual assistance, and brings social justice. It is from this that we build the nation, from simple yet far-reaching compassion,” Nasaruddin said.
The Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque also urged the community to use Eid al-Adha as an opportunity to expand benefits, strengthen empathy, and ensure that every act of worship has an impact on others.
“Happy Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah. May Allah SWT accept our sacrificial worship and bless the Indonesian nation,” Nasaruddin said.
