Minister of Religious Affairs Calls on Islamic Organisation Leaders to Spread Optimism, Must Not Weaken Each Other
Jakarta — Minister of Religious Affairs Prof KH Nasaruddin Umar has called on leaders of civil organisations (Ormas) Islam to continue spreading optimism and strengthening unity among society.
“Society needs messages that are calming and build hope. Therefore, I hope that leaders of civil organisations can continue spreading optimism and maintain the spirit of unity among the Muslim community,” said the Minister in a statement in Jakarta, Sunday (15 March 2026).
The statement was made by the Minister during a courtesy visit with leaders of Islamic civil organisations at his official residence. According to him, religious figures and community organisation leaders wield considerable influence in shaping societal attitudes and public opinion.
Community leaders hold strategic positions. When these figures convey soothing messages, society will also experience calm and confidence in facing various challenges.
“The way to face various dynamics is through calmness, unity, and togetherness. We must not weaken each other, but rather must strengthen one another,” he said.
He added that Indonesia possesses strong social capital to maintain stability and harmony in community life. As long as all elements of the nation maintain togetherness and continue strengthening unity, the nation will be able to overcome various challenges well.
