Jakarta — Indonesia’s Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar has called on leaders of Islamic civil society organisations (Ormas) to continue spreading optimism and strengthening unity amongst the public.

“Society requires messages that are calming and instil hope. For this reason, I trust that the leaders of civil society organisations will continue to spread optimism and maintain the spirit of unity amongst the Muslim community,” the Minister said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

According to the Minister, religious leaders and civil society organisation heads wield significant influence in shaping public attitudes and perspectives.

Religious leaders occupy a strategic position. When these figures communicate reassuring messages, the public will likewise experience peace of mind and confidence in facing various challenges.

“The way to address various developments is through calm, unity, and togetherness. We must not weaken one another; rather, we should strengthen each other,” he said.

He added that Indonesia possesses strong social capital to preserve stability and harmony in community life. As long as all national elements maintain togetherness and continue to strengthen unity, the nation will be capable of navigating various challenges effectively.

Earlier, the Minister of Religion stressed that collaboration between religious leaders, government, and the business sector is essential in strengthening national resilience amidst global dynamics.

According to the Minister, national development relies not only on government policy but also requires active public participation, including the business community, which makes a substantial contribution to driving the national economy.

“Collaboration between government, religious leaders, and business practitioners is crucial. Through effective cooperation, we can strengthen social resilience whilst advancing the nation’s economic progress,” the Minister said.
