The mudik flow may be starting to subside, but the return flow is still ahead. Our vigilance is still being tested.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has reminded all PU personnel to remain on standby to handle the 2026 Eid return flow and subsequent disaster management.

He reminded that the task is not yet complete, and all personnel must stay vigilant for the return flow and ongoing disaster handling.

“The mudik flow may be starting to subside, but the return flow is still ahead. Our vigilance is still being tested. Likewise, in disaster management, it does not stop at emergency response but must continue to be present until the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase with the Build Back Better principle,” Dody stated in his remarks in Jakarta on Friday.

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo directly greeted all technical implementing units (balai) in various regions of Indonesia via online means on Thursday (26/3), while also expressing appreciation for the dedication of PU personnel during Ramadan and the 1447 H Eid al-Fitr mudik flow.

Dody conveyed his pride and gratitude to all Ministry of Public Works employees who have carried out public service duties amid the increased societal mobility during the mudik season.

“In the past few weeks, when millions of people undertook mudik journeys, you remained present and worked to ensure infrastructure readiness so that the public could travel safely, comfortably, and securely. From this, we see that PU not only works but also safeguards the public’s journeys in carrying out Eid silaturahmi,” he said.

According to him, the smoothness of this year’s mudik flow, which is considered better and more controlled, is the result of the collective efforts of all PU personnel, both in the field and at command posts.

Dody reaffirmed the Ministry of Public Works’ commitment to continue providing the best service to the public.

“We may be tired, but we must not stop serving. As long as there is still hope from the public, we have no reason to stop,” he said.

On the same occasion, Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti also expressed appreciation for the hard work of all PU personnel during the rainy season and the Eid mudik period.

Deputy Minister Diana also reminded of the importance of preparedness for the dry season, particularly in anticipating potential droughts through strengthening water resource infrastructure.

The Ministry of Public Works will continue to strengthen preparedness and cross-sector coordination to ensure optimal infrastructure services in supporting public mobility and facing various future challenges.
